jmum jewellery care
JMUM uses sterling silver plated with 3 microns in different finishes for gold (gloss and matte), and rose gold, in all collections unless otherwise indicated. In addition, the pieces include semiprecious stones or beads.
SILVER PLATED IN ROSE AND YELLOW GOLD
Plated jewels can show some wear with the passing of time. However, if you follow some extra care tips when using, storing and cleaning them you can make sure they last as long as possible withstanding ordinary wear and tear.
To protect the gold layer from excessive wear and scratches, please be careful around abrasive materials such stone and rock. Although gold jewellery will not stain over time like silver, the appearance of gold may fade slightly depending on wear and tear and exposure to chemicals and cosmetics.
Avoid wearing gold-plated jewellery in the shower, bath or pool. Chlorine in particular can permanently damage or discolour gold jewellery.
It is advisable to remove all jewellery when you participate in any physical activity or intensive labour. For this same reason, avoid applying perfume and cosmetics close to your jewellery. When you remove them, be sure to store the jewellery in separate bags or boxes to prevent the pieces from rubbing and scratching one another.
SILVER JEWELLERY
All JMUM pieces are made in 925 sterling silver.
Store your silver jewellery in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
Please avoid storing the jewellery in humid conditions and heat, as this can cause stains and tarnish especially on silver. Keeping silver jewellery in sealed plastic bags helps reduce or prevent this happening.
Skincare and haircare products, such as body lotions, perfumes and creams, may react adversely with jewellery, causing precious metals to lose the shine. It is advisable not to apply any cosmetic products before putting on jewellery.
CLEANING OF JEWELLERY
To clean any gold-plated piece, wipe gently with a soft cloth. Do not rub as this can prematurely wear out the gold layer.
Silver jewellery can be cleaned with soap and warm water. Be sure to rinse thoroughly and dry before storing to prevent tarnishing. Alternatively, you can polish silver jewellery with a soft cloth.
Check your jewellery regularly for signs of dirt or wear. Avoid using any type of abrasive jewellery cleaner. After each use, it is recommended that you clean the jewellery with a soft, dry and lint-free cloth to remove any makeup or natural oil.
REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE OF JEWELLERY
All JMUM jewellery is made in Spain with the utmost care and it is very important for us that they are well-maintained. Due to natural wear and tear and the passing of time, our pieces may need periodic care. For any inquiry or quote for repairs, re-polishing or re-plating, please contact us here.
